Episode I in two parts:
HIRING A MOVER
1. Call whatever company is willing to come to Madison, AL. This narrows down the choices significantly. List your posessions. Receive quote. Quote is under anticipated budget. Something must be wrong.
2. Call movers back Forgot to mention 2 bikes. Quote goes up.
3. Call movers back. Forgot to mention wool rug and bookcase. Quote goes up.
4. Call movers back. Husband will not part with 10 boxes of Star Wars and misc. childhood memorobilia. Quote goes up and is now $500 over budget. This makes a lot more sense than the original quote. Relief.
GARAGE SALE - items of note:
1. People show up while it is still dark outside. They are practically salivating. They paw through your 12 billion tons of accumulated crap. They buy one DVD case. For this they got up at
2. All ugly earrings from Ugly Earring Contest sold immediately.
3. 9 1/2 Weeks VHS and poster sold to extremely eager 15-year-old. We all know what HE'LL be doing for the next week...
4. Woman picks up queen-sized chenille blanket. "How much?" she asks. "One dollar," I say. She drops it back into the box. What was she hoping for?
5. Man wants to pay $10 for a stereo we've marked $35. We say no. He haggles some more. We say no. He gives me his card and asks me to call him if the stereo doesn't sell. He drives away in a Porsche.
